Hi there.
Here’s a poem from the grief of a committed relationship ending, or at least changing form. I still can’t get through reading it without tearing up about some line or another. I hope it makes you feel some type of way too, because feeling is our birthright.
Enjoy love and its shadow.
Carve our initials in the sand
And the waves come in again.
Wave our glowsticks at the sky
Light trails linger in our eyes.
In the secondhand armchair, after I asked to make it official,
You said you were too difficult
But I didn’t want to believe it.
Eleven years later, after the mushrooms didn’t kick in,
You read me the proof in your journals
And I said what I’ll always regret:
Maybe you were right.
Our memories,
My memories,
Midsummer breeze.
The sunset in swirling eddies
Snowmelt up to our knees.
