Hi there.

Winter is coming. Now is the time for darkness. Rather than cling to the light and suffer the loss you try to deny, I encourage us all to embrace the unknown ahead and find solace in the understanding that all things are ephemeral. In this spirit, I offer some of my recent poetry that’s come from leaning into the dark and morbid through creative work, which I find helps me stay grounded during times of emotional and political upheaval.

You can call me alive,
But I’m undercover for death
And will report back
A quarter after my last breath.

I wear the masks
And watch futures speed past.
You like the way I dance
But like is not meant to last.

Though I walk upon the plateau of the blinding light,
I shall heed no dreams of promised lands
But turn the burning noon to freezing night
Recycling darkness between heart and hands.

Well well, if it isn’t my old friend ambivalence,
As soon as I’m with you wanting to be alone again.
Hope keeps a-knocking but can’t come in,
But holler through the door, our
Contradictions.
